It’s been a rough week…

So, I can’t lie to you. It’s been a rough week. Getting back into the work/school routine has been less than fun… And I didn’t play the Power Ball, so I have no chance of having won and not going back. čśë┬áDon’t get me wrong, I love my job, but we came back to school to find that two of my favorite students were transferring to different schools… It took everything in me to not cry at school.

On to something positive…

Training Trigger is going good! I can say that he is almost 100% housebroken, walks super great on the leash, and does perfect in his crate. Plus, he’s such a love bug! He tends to be a bit of a lap baby, but I’m okay with that. čÖé I was able to get in touch with someone who got a puppy from a previous litter from his breeder (same mom and dad) and they said that their pup who is just over a year old now weighs 110 pounds! I may need to get the lap baby thing in check soon, but I really enjoy all the love…

As you can see, Trigger loves when I come home from work! He laid on me and wouldn't let me up when I got home from work!

My Favorite Amazon Items This Week…

As you can see in the photo above, I have a brand new phone case. It is AMAZING! I have to have a wallet phone case, because I am constantly forgetting my driver’s license and debit card in either my purse or yesterday’s blue jeans, so this one is kinda perfect. What makes it completely perfect is that it has a┬áremovable magnetic case for your phone. It also has three separate slots for cash, receipts, and whatever other loose papers that you may have.

We’ve had so much rain these last few weeks that I’ve been desperately needing rain boots (especially when my front yard turned into a pond!). I searched and searched, and finally found these cute and affordable ones! They are available in several different prints, but I got these black ones with white polka dots with the intentions of adding my monogram in red. I’ll have to update the photos when I finally get a few minutes to add the monogram.

I Am “THAT” Parent…

TrimFit
Alicia- What kind of parent am I?So, working in a school, I get to see all kinds of parents… The parent that walks in every day and has a hard time letting go, the parent that can’t be reached for anything that goes wrong, the parent that thinks their child is ALWAYS in the right, and so many more. It wasn’t until working at the school that I began to really evaluate what kind of parent I am, and how my actions may possibly affect how my kids are treated.

All I Want For Christmas…

With Thanksgiving behind us now and the Christmas shopping season in full swing, everyone is busy talking about the many things that they want for Christmas… The truth of the matter is, if I really thought about it, I could probably name off many many things that I want that would make good Christmas gifts. But truly, all I want for Christmas is to pretend it isn’t happening this year.

all I want for Christmas

All I Want For Christmas

I’m a newlywed. It’s the first year that I am officially Mrs. Babb for Christmas. It’s the first year that I have signed my Christmas cards “With Love, The Babbs”. I should be happy. But it’s an “odd numbered” year. And that means that my children will be with their dad for Christmas. I’m happy for them, don’t get me wrong… I’m just so damn miserable every time I think of them not being here to put on their new pajamas on Christmas eve. I hate the idea of not waking them up on Christmas morning to show them the bounty of gifts that are under the tree. I hate not getting them dressed in their new clothes to go to Grandma’s house for Christmas dinner. I just hate it.

So, while it sounds so incredibly selfish, all I want for Christmas is to pretend that it doesn’t exist. Not until my kids come back home the next day…

I know I’m not the only mom out there that’s going through this either. I want to reach out to the other ones, I want to give them a comforting hug. I wish I could say it gets easier, but it doesn’t. This will be┬ámy 4th Christmas without my kids, and as the days lead up to it, it feels like a death march.

If you’re like me and could use some cheering up… Download this book. It’ll give you a good laugh.

Ticks: The Reality of Having Pets

So, as I have mentioned before, my family and I have 4 cats and a dog. These animals are all indoor/outdoor (meaning they come and go at their scratching/barking/meowing leisure). There is a harsh reality about having pets that no one talks about: ticks. That’s right, no matter how much you treat your yard and your pets, they will still find their way on them… And sometimes in your house.

check you for ticks

I used to be the kind of girl that would have to get someone else to get ticks off the dog when I found one, but there are occasions when no one else is around now, and I don’t want those awful things staying on my poor babies… So I have learned to woman up and do it myself. By woman up I mean grabbing a tissue and removing the tick as quickly as possible, then running to the bathroom to flush it down the toilet.

Will you please check me for ticks?

Fast forward to this morning… I’ve mentioned before that I get up earlier than anyone else in the house. This morning, I got up and stumbled half awake through the house to the bathroom, phone in hand. As I was scrolling through my Facebook feeds and sitting on the toilet, I saw something out of the corner of my eye. ON. MY. ARM!

I jumped up, dropped the phone on the bathroom counter, and attempted to remove it. But I couldn’t. It was on my right arm, and for some reason (probably something to do with the fact that I wasn’t fully awake yet), my left hand wasn’t grabbing the thing good enough. I swear, I could feel the thing digging in deeper…

Then I freaked out more. I ran from the bathroom, back to the bedroom with the hubs, and the following conversation happened:

Me- “Baby, I love you, but you have to wake up.”
Hubs- “Just let me sleep one more hour, then I’ll get up and cook.”
Me- “Babe, I’m turning the light on, you have to get up NOW!”
Hubs- “Uh uh!” and pulls covers over his head.
Me- “Baby, I have a f***ing tick on me. You have to get it off. RIGHT. F***ING. NOW!!!”
Hubs- Jumps out of bed. Sees tick, snatches it off, and tears its head off.
Me- “Can you check the rest of me now?”
Hubs- “I’ll check you later. You’ll be fine.”

I’m not sure this is what Brad Paisley had in mind when he made his song… Excuse me while I let Google convince me I’m dying.
